This project forms part of Cardiff Universities' student union building. Before creating our design we had to think through very carefully how the space and specified furniture would be best used during different times of the day.
In order to best meet the clients' requirements we designed 5 different areas; the 'chill out' zone; working/social area; dining area; 'cosy' area; functions area. The design anticipates that during the day most of the areas will be used for working' dining and socialising. However the design is flexible in order to accommodate other requirements such as banqueting.
Because in the evening there is likely to be a conflict between the areas, we have specified two types of divider/solid curtains and transparent wire cloth to separate the functional area from the social areas.
