This is a two storey extension to a Victorian manor house near Cefn Pennar in the Cynon valley. The house is on three floors, in the middle of a sloping site surrounded by woodland and near stream.
The ground floor adjoins a newly refurbished kitchen to create a garden room; this room has eight sets of glazed double doors on three sides which open out on to the extensive grounds.
Upstairs, a master bedroom with en-suite and balcony is connected to the ground floor by a new spiral staircase; the bedroom has a vaulted ceiling supported by exposed oak beams.
Traditional materials have been used externally to match the existing house. The relatively conventional interior conceals up to date integrated electronic control systems for heating, lighting, sound and projection.
