This Treharris home is a good example of the potential of a typical detached house to be adapted to better suit modern life. We were approached by the owner to advise them on how to improve the layout and extend it to create a combined kitchen and dining area. The result was a design that improved the interior and created a link out into the garden.
This was achieved by opening up and extending out with a room that has folding glass walls on two sides. We also extended out to the side to accommodate a utility, bathroom and storage space.
The client wanted to allow more daylight into the house; the result is an open plan space that opens out onto a terrace. This room also works as a link between the kitchen and utility and allows borrowed daylight into each of these spaces.
